“The annual expo and symposium known as Greenbuild is coming to Phoenix on Wednesday, and, as it happens, the Valley will be more than a mere venue.
Canalscape, the exciting effort to transform land near the Valley’s canal banks into attractive, water-centric developments, will be prominently featured at Greenbuild 2009.
As we’ve described in detail in these opinion pages over the past year, Canalscape is a serious-minded partnership among Arizona State University, Salt River Project, several Valley cities and other organizations dedicated to reintegrating the Valley’s canals into the urban environment.
Part of that effort was a successful design competition that included teams of planners, architects and developers who focused their imaginations on specific locations. Many of those conceptions, along with those of ASU students, will be on display at the ASU Art Museum from Tuesday through Dec. 1.
This week, one of the key organizers of Canalscape, ASU Associate Professor Nan Ellin, will conduct a Canalscape presentation for the Greenbuild attendees as well as the public….”
